During our gathering, Ms. Joanne invited our toddl During our gathering, Ms. Joanne invited our toddlers to join in a rain experiment.

We used shaving cream to represent clouds and blue food coloring to represent rain.
We revisited our topic of precipitation by explaining to the children that when clouds become heavy with water, the water falls to the earth as rain.
Through this visual demonstration, we watched as the food coloring travelled through the ā€œcloudsā€ and slowly trickled to the bottom.

Our toddlers took turns helping us make rain by squeezing the droppers with their fingers. This activity allowed the children to visually see water falling as we introduced the scientific concept. Weather not only affects the earth, but also the climate and landscape around us.

Since we are expecting lots of rain this month, it is important for our children to understand what happens in the sky, what we need to wear to protect ourselves from getting sick, and how rain, sun, and wind affect our environment.
It was a beautiful day for our Pre-Primary friends It was a beautiful day for our Pre-Primary friends to go on a nature walk!

Along the way, they explored their surroundings, observed plants and birds, and practiced important traffic safety skills.

The children were so excited to see the beauty of nature up close and even collected some natural materials to bring back to the classroom for future art projects. Stay tuned to see what they create!

Color can be a powerful language for expressing fe Color can be a powerful language for expressing feelings.

During gathering, we introduced the children to Pablo Picasso and how he used color to show emotion in his artwork. As they observed one of his blue-toned paintings, the children noticed the cool colors, the empty plate, and the downcast eyes. They shared that blue can feel sad, and made thoughtful connections between hunger, anger, and emotions.

To conclude, each child chose a color and described how it made them feel. Many selected bright, warm colors to represent happiness, while others chose blue, purple, or green to express calm or comfort.

Through art appreciation and open conversation, our friends explored emotional awareness and discovered how colors can help us communicate our feelings.

Since returning in January, our Primary classroom Since returning in January, our Primary classroom at Nido has been exploring Creative Expression as a language for communicating meaning and ideas.

Building on our storytelling inquiry, we discovered that stories come alive most naturally through art and construction. As children create, they narrate. Colour, shape, texture, and structure become powerful tools for sharing their thinking.

Inspired by Henri Matisse, Ms. Dasha introduced our new ā€œStained Glassā€ project using vibrant cellophane. Together, we are designing a Nido playground scene filled with the places and materials the children love most, from the geo dome and mud kitchen to big trees and the wide blue sky.

Art, storytelling, and imagination beautifully woven together.

From ā€œI Am an Artistā€ to ā€œWe Are Artists,ā€ From ā€œI Am an Artistā€ to ā€œWe Are Artists,ā€ our creative journey continues with our first Artist Spotlight: Yayoi Kusama.

Inspired by the children’s love for dot markers, we explored Kusama’s artwork through observation and inquiry. What do you see? What colours and shapes do you notice?

The children then expressed their own ideas through pattern, repetition, and colour, each creating in their own unique way.

Since returning in January, our Primary class at N Since returning in January, our Primary class at Nido has been exploring Creative Expression as a language for sharing ideas and meaning.

Through our Egg Carton Transformation Project, children investigated how paper can change form by ripping, soaking, blending, pressing, and drying. Along the way, they observed colour shifts, texture changes, and even their own feelings moving from hesitation to confidence.

At Nido, inquiry based education invites children to ask questions, test ideas, and learn through hands on discovery.
