Our goal is for children to fall in love with literacy! Our thoughtfully curated environment exposes children to rich language, vocabulary, and literary elements using hands-on learning. Children are introduced to language and literacy elements using their senses, which strengthens neural pathways. Through games, songs, wordplay, and modelling rich language, children develop strong phonological and phonemic awareness.
The Nido team fosters students’ dispositions towards growth mindsets by viewing daily obstacles and challenges as learning opportunities. Critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skill development is woven into every interaction at Nido. Children become strong, effective communicators with an understanding of their own needs as learners. As they engage in research and play an active role in their learning, they simultaneously develop independence and other relevant and applicable life skills.
Humans are innately drawn to mathematics; we classify and create order in our world through establishing patterns, sequences, hierarchies, and relationships. Math principles are introduced in a concrete form, allowing children to internalize abstract mathematical principles through sensorial connections with them. Manipulatives are used to forge connections between math concepts, such as shape, form, and dimension.
We believe that relationships are the foundation of teaching and learning. Strong relationships guide our understanding of how to best support each child in their social and emotional development. Through encouraging and scaffolding language and communication development, the Nido team guides children to recognize, name, and express their feelings, needs, and emotions. We model and practice problem-solving skills and interpersonal communication skills with the children, and hold space for them to practice self-regulation skills and strategies.

“From the remote tour, to the interview, to the daily drop-offs and pick-ups, we have been impressed with the culture: the positivity, attentiveness, and the way in which the teachers and staff interact with and provide instruction to the children. Moving from Hawaii to a new city in Canada, the Nido team has enveloped our family with the same blanket of caring, allowing both our child and us as parents to grow and learn!”
“At Nido, I’ve seen first hand what ‘child-led’ truly means. The teachers provide children with the freedom to explore and they encourage and reinforce their curiosities. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure that each child is well taken care of by not only being patient, but responsive to each child’s unique needs.”
“The teachers are kind and responsible, and always greet our family with a bright smile. Every day, I see my child’s progress. For example, it may be a word uttered, or when a bug is found, he can suddenly say something that he has never said before. Nido gives children space for imagination, thinking, and being hands-on.”
