Yuka Gorovenko (She/Her)

Educator

My journey began in preschool, inspired by a very kind teacher I loved. Even in elementary school, I was already researching how to become an ECE teacher. Through school career trials and volunteering in middle and high school, I knew without a doubt that this was my true calling. This passion led me to major in Early Childhood Education at university, and I have been dedicated to this rewarding field in both Japan and Canada ever since.

I love that children naturally remind me of the beauty in the world. As adults, we often take everyday life for granted, but children look at everything with so much curiosity. I am always fascinated by their unique ways of thinking and playing. They bring their own creative ideas into their play, and this brings new, unexpected discoveries to my day. Experiencing the world through their fresh perspective is truly the best part of this job.

I hope they remember me as a teacher who always listened to them and made them feel safe, seen, and valued for who they are, and as someone who brought their unique interests into our learning to make every day an adventure.

Outside of the classroom, my greatest joy lately is practicing figure skating and challenging myself to learn new skills on the ice! My dream is to one day enter a competition and skate beautifully, being able to do spins and small jumps.  I also love spending time with my daughter. We enjoy playing together, baking at home, and sometimes we even go ice skating together.
