A little look into our May inquiries across the cl A little look into our May inquiries across the classrooms at Nido.

In Primary, the children explored responsibility, problem solving, and construction through everyday moments. After accidentally spilling oats, they independently gathered brooms and dustpans to clean the space together. During block play, they discovered that balance and thoughtful planning helped keep their towers standing strong.

In Pre-Primary, children continued building language and creativity through reading, sensory exploration, and art. Using bugs as painting tools and tearing apart painted paper they created themselves invited curiosity, texture exploration, and creative expression.

In Toddlers, the children explored spring, weather, and movement through open ended materials. Magnetic tiles, figurines, and vehicles encouraged creating and investigating, while painting bright pink flowers helped represent the changing season around them.

Through these small moments, each classroom continued to follow the children’s natural curiosity and inquiry in meaningful ways.

After the long weekend, we noticed our basil and rosemary sprouts had become very dry. Throughout the week, the children continued watering and observing them closely, wondering if they might recover. Together, we reflected on what plants need to grow and the important role water plays in keeping them healthy.

Although the basil and rosemary were unable to recover, this experience became a meaningful opportunity for observation, reflection, and learning through real experience.

Luckily, our cucumber plants outside are still growing strong 🥒✨

Moments like these help children build critical thinking, observation skills, and an understanding of cause and effect while discovering that even unexpected outcomes can become valuable learning opportunities.

Summer season is here, and our students have been Summer season is here, and our students have been busy little gardeners! Across different classrooms, children have been planting flowers, caring for vegetables, and learning through hands on experiences in our playground garden.

Our Primary classroom cucumbers are growing especially healthy, and the children have been so excited to observe the changes each day. Gardening encourages patience, responsibility, collaboration, and a deeper connection with nature as children actively care for the environment around them.

Our Nido Primary class visited the Carousel Theatr Our Nido Primary class visited the Carousel Theatre on Granville Island as part of our ongoing inquiry into storytelling.

During gathering time in the weeks leading up to the field trip, we read The Paper Bag Princess together, taking time to explore the characters, sequence of events, and overall plot. Through shared conversation, the children were invited to make predictions and connect ideas to deepen their understanding of the story.

At the theatre, the children experienced storytelling in a new way, seeing how stories can come alive through actors, body language, and voice. This exploration supported their understanding that stories can be told not only through books, but also through creative expression and performance.

We were not able to film the play out of respect for the actors, but it was a meaningful experience that expanded their thinking, imagination, and appreciation for storytelling in all its forms.

Mother’s Day at Nido was filled with the sweetes Mother’s Day at Nido was filled with the sweetest moments.

Our Primary class spent the morning gathered together, watching a special video the children recorded for their moms, followed by a cozy drawing time side by side.

Our Pre-primary children explored playdough with their moms, created their own customized polaroid frames, and even shared a song together during snack time.

Our Toddlers enjoyed snacking together and decorating tea towels with their moms, creating keepsakes to bring home and cherish.

Did you notice the music in the background? It is actually from our Pre-primary classroom while they were singing together. A little piece of their joy woven into the video.

It was a warm, gentle morning filled with love, connection, and beautiful memories.

This Mother’s Day, we captured some of the sweet This Mother’s Day, we captured some of the sweetest milestones.

Our toddlers are still in the beautiful stage of learning how to talk, and we were so grateful to catch a few of their earliest words shared with their moms.

These simple, heartfelt moments remind us how powerful and meaningful early language can be. Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms in our Nido community.
